Women Admitted to Rotary

Sad news for the family of Rotary, Past Rotary International President 1987/1988, Charles Keller passed away on May 10th, 2018 at 94 years of age at his home in California.

Cliff Dochterman’s professional life included 40 years in higher education administration – 20 years each at the University of California in Berkeley and at the University of Pacific in Stockton, California Most of us know him for his volunteer work for Rotary over the past 50 years. He has served in almost every Rotary assignment in the world.

When we were asked to write a short biography which would culminate in Glen’s year as the President of Rotary International we recognised a task which would be a privilege to undertake, but which, we thought, would have its difficulties. First, Heather had not long died in tragic circumstances and Glen was barely over the hurt and grief which her death occasioned.

Italian civil engineer and former owner of an architect planning firm Carlo Ravizza was the 1999-2000 world president of Rotary International, the network of 29,000 community-based service clubs with more than 1.2 million members in 161 countries. He was the second Italian to lead the international community volunteer organization, the first being Gian Paolo Lang 1956 .

Bill was the 4th Rotarian from these islands to become President of RI. He was for many years Principal of Risley Hall near Derby, a school for young offenders, where he and his wife Audrey pioneered new methods of treatment.
